BEIJING -- Australia's Cadel Evans won the men's time trial at the "2007 Good Luck Beijing" International Road Cycling Tournament here on Sunday.
The 2007 Tour de France runner-up clocked 32 minutes and 28 seconds 92 to take the gold, beating his teammate Michael Rogers to the second place in 32:53.66.
"The weather was hot and humid. This is my first time to come to China, everything here for me was new, I need time to adjust to it," said Evans.
"I started a bit slow today, but kept the pace and sprint really well at the end of the race," added Evans.
When being asked about his next target after winning on the Beijing Olympic road, the Australian cycling star did not hide his ambition towards Olympic gold.
"I hope I could stand in the same spot next year at the Beijing Olympic Games. After the Tour de France, I will come to Beijing," added Evans.
The bronze medal went to Alexandr Dyachenko of Kazakhstan in 33:27.52.
