BOCOG gives book to Olympic model schools

China's middle schools that have been awarded the title of "Olympic Education Model" have received a book on the history of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) presented by BOCOG and the Beijing Municipal Education Commission.
At a book-presentation ceremony on Friday, Mr. He Zhenliang, executive member of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) and president of the IOC Commission for Culture and Olympic Education gave every representative of the model schools a copy of the book in Chinese.
EntitledThe Idea, The Presidents, The Achievements, the three-volume book written by a group of university researchers deals with the development of the IOC sine its foundation in 1894.
The Chinese version of the book was printed in 1994 under Mr. He's guidance. As the 2008 Olympic Games are drawing near, Mr.He proposed that the book be reprinted to enrich the teaching and research materials of the Olympic Movement. With the financial support of Tsingtao Beer 1,000 copies were finally made available.
Some of the copies have been donated to the National Library of China, the China Sports Museum, provincial and municipal libraries, higher learning institutions and Olympic research centers in Hong Kong, Macao and overseas.
