The 2007 international painting contest for elementary and secondary school students was kicked off in Beijing on Friday.
Parts of the awarded works of the contest under the theme of "Green Dreams, Colorful Olympics" will be used to beautify the Olympic Village and Media Village for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the organizers said.
Organized by the Beijing Youth Palace and Beijing Environmental Protection Foundation and supervised by the Construction and Environment Department of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) and China National Youth Palace Association (CNYPA), the campaign will feature environmental protection.
No fees will be charged on participants and recycled pieces of painting papers will be available for them. Aside from the painting contest, there will be an exchange of waste-paper with recycled painting paper, lectures on painting skills as well as an exhibition of awarded works.
From now on participants can visit www.beijing2008.cn or www.bjqng.com.cn or call (010)66110118 or (010)66152211-1020 for more information. The deadline for submissions is July 9, 2007.
