Beijing mobilized for 2007 'Good Luck' sport events

Twenty three out of the sport events under the name of "Good Luck Beijing" are scheduled to be held in Beijing, with the rest in Hong Kong (equestrian), Qingdao (sailing), Shenyang and Qinhuangdao (football) respectively.
The competitions are arranged in accordance with International Olympic Committee requests and Beijing's bid promises. All Olympic venues are required to be examined through test events to see if their facilities, technology systems, plans and schemes, operation norms and logistics are ready for the Olympic Games. More test events are planned for 2008 before the Olympic Games is opened on August 8.
Liu Qi, president of Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) and secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) told the audience that the "Good Luck" events are a rehearsal of the organization work for the Olympics and a excellent preparations will lay a solid foundation for next year's Olympic Games.
He requested the organizers to put all knowledge, experience, policies and regulations that they had learnt or gained in recent years into practice to ensure the standardization of forthcoming test events.
He called for more efforts in creating venue managing teams, forming organizing committees for various sports events and putting them in operation, as well as providing sufficient logistics support in facilities, services and other areas.
