Reviewing long-standing friendly relations between China and Britain, Liu said exchange and cooperation in political, economic, cultural, scientific and educational fields has been growing. Beijing and London became sister cities in April this year, which offered more areas for cooperation.
After briefing the guest on the preparatory work for the Beijing Olympics, Liu said Beijing hopes to enhance cooperation with London as the latter has accumulated rich experience through holding the 1908 and 1948 Olympic Games.
The British secretary praised Beijing on its achievement in Olympic preparatory work and believed that Beijing will host a successful Olympiad. She hoped that the two sides will expand links to prepare for the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
London won the bid to host the XXX Olympiad in 2012.
Present at the meeting was BOCOG Executive Vice President and Secretary-General Wang Wei.
