Court's Party chief removed from post
Xu Qianfei has been removed from his post as Party chief and head of the Jiangsu High People's Court because of serious disciplinary violations, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection said on Monday. Xu took advantage of his post to interfere with legal cases to seek benefits for others, it said. Xu also breached Party rules in taking cash and other gifts, visiting clubs, playing golf and taking part in banquets paid by public funds, it said, adding that he also violated discipline in the promotion of officials and failed to report his personal information in accordance with the rules.

Police seize over 1 ton of drugs
Police in Lincang on the China-Myanmar border have seized a little over 1 metric ton of drugs this year and arrested 226 suspects in 422 cases, according to a statement released on Monday. It is the fifth consecutive year that police in the city have confiscated more than a ton of drugs. Local police have developed a series of tactics to crack down on the drug trade, including setting up 30 checkpoints in key inspection areas.
