Cash hidden under bed grows mold

A woman, surnamed Ma, discovered that 200,000 yuan ($29,400) in cash she had hidden under her parents' bed for three years in Chengdu's Wenjiang district had become covered in mold. Ma managed to exchange the money, which she had planned to use to buy a house, for about 190,000 yuan at a local bank. The bank clerk serving Ma reportedly vomited while counting the money due to its terrible stench.

Boozy party leaves boy hospitalized

A 13-year-old boy had to be treated in an intensive care unit for three days recently after drinking more than 0.5 liters of erguotou, a Chinese white spirit, during his primary school graduation party in Jinan. The boy was sent to hospital to have his stomach pumped after becoming intoxicated at the party, and was transferred to intensive care. The party was attended by 20 primary school students, who drunk a total of 3.5 liters of erguotou.

Man detained over stealing own car

A man in his 50s, surnamed Su, was detained over the theft of his own vehicle after he used a spare key to drive off in the car, which had been detained by police in Jinan on July 3. Su was originally stopped by police when he was caught driving his vehicle, which was dented, down a street in the wrong direction. He was then detained for the first time after failing to present his driver's license to police. Su went home to collect his spare key and returned to his car, driving off in the vehicle, but was again detained after police launched an investigation.

A man was recently detained in Taizhou after allegedly robbing a woman of about 300 yuan ($45) because his wife had left him after a quarrel.
