Xiongan seeks design proposals
Xiongan New Area in Hebei province is seeking international urban design professionals to support the area's development and overall planning. In order to collect design proposals for Xiongan, an international consultative event will be held in Hebei from July 15 to Aug 20. Designing institutions from China and overseas are welcome to register for the event until Monday to submit their ideas and proposals. Twelve institutions will be chosen to compete for the final three winners. Xiongan New Area is a newly planned area of national significance following Shenzhen and Shanghai's Pudong. Located around 100 kilometers southwest of downtown Beijing, the area boasts convenient transportation, incomparable geographical advantages and a relatively strong environmental capacity.
Industrial parks blossom along B&R
More Chinese enterprises are welcomed to invest in industrial parks in economies related to the Belt and Road Initiative, generate more tax revenue and create more employment. "Over the past three years, Chinese enterprises have built 56 international industrial parks in more than 20 countries participating in the Initiative, with a total investment of more than $18.5 billion," said Zhu Hongren, executive vice-president of the China Enterprise Confederation, at the third B&R Summit for International Industrial Parks Construction.
ChemChina takes over Syngenta
ChemChina has completed its $43 billion takeover of Swiss pesticide and seed giant Syngenta, the companies said, in the biggest overseas acquisition so far by a Chinese firm. The deal combines Syngenta, a global leader in seeds and crop protection, with ChemChina which controls Adama, the largest supplier of generic crop protection products in Europe.
