Woman tosses coin into aircraft engine
A woman has been placed under investigation in Shanghai for flipping coins into an aircraft engine to "pray for safety". The suspect, an 80-year-old passenger surnamed Qiu, tossed at least nine coins toward the engine while boarding China Southern Airlines Flight CZ380 on Tuesday. The plane was scheduled to depart for Guangzhou, Guangdong province, at 12:40 pm but was delayed for more than five hours over the incident. Other passengers observed Qiu and alerted police, who found one coin in the engine and others on the ground.
