Norwegian prime minister to visit China and meet leaders

Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg will make an official visit to China from Friday to Tuesday, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During her visit Solberg will meet with President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang and Zhang Dejiang, chairman of the National People's Committee Standing Committee.

Technology to combat algae on the upstream Yangtze lakes

More than 80 percent of lakes in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, have been affected by eutrophication, water detoxification caused by blooming algae. Scientists from the Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology and the Chinese Academy of Sciences have created new advanced technologies to tackle this issue. These include a bionic platform that can filter algae, a "razor" platform that dredges sediment and a powder that can turn phosphorus and algae into harder material allowing easier removal. Changsha scores forum goal with world-first soccer event

A promotional conference on the upcoming World Football Forum will be held in Beijing on Friday. The actual four-day forum will kick off in Changsha, Hunan province, on May 18. Experts and representatives from the world's major clubs, international governing bodies and suppliers will attend the forum to exchange ideas and discuss the latest trends and innovations in the game.

Travel agency to brief media on new sector strategy

China CYTS Tours, a leading travel service provider in China, will hold a media briefing on Thursday in Beijing to introduce its latest development strategy. To meet diverse demand the agency has focused on three areas, outbound-travel, study tours and medical tourism, targeting the country's growing middle class, students who intend to study abroad and senior citizens.
