Court clears death crash car owner
A man in Jiangyin has been cleared of any wrongdoing following the death of a motorcyclist who crashed into his parked car. The family of the deceased had taken the car owner to court demanding more than 400,000 yuan ($58,000) compensation. But he was found not guilty on account of the car being parked in front of his house, more than half a meter away from the road, and the motorcyclist being drunk at the time of the accident. The family received around 100,000 yuan compensation from the car insurance.

Placid victim unsettles robber
A high school student in Huai'an has described being targeted by a mugger, who needed money to pay off nearly 30,000 yuan ($4,350) of gambling debt. The student said the man was "nervous with his legs trembling" during the robbery and let him go once he had taken his phone. The mugger was detained two days later and told police that the student's calmness during the robbery had unsettled him.

Pregnant grandma has twins
A 48-year-old grandmother in Dongguan has given birth to healthy twin boys after undergoing musical treatment for stress during the pregnancy. She was pregnant with the twins at the same time as her daughter was expecting her second child. The grandmother said she was anxious about being unable to raise her new children at an advanced age.

Blinded rider runs into truck
A motorcyclist who could not see out of his helmet's visor because it became fogged up in the rain ran into the back of a truck that was pulling over to refill at a highway gas station. The man said he had ridden down the highway for around 3 kilometers without being able to see properly and was mainly using guesswork to navigate.

Police detain alleged killer
The driver of a motorized tricycle in Xiapu county, Ningde, has been detained on suspicion of killing an elderly man on March 8. The driver is accused of hitting the man and driving him to a remote location, where he was left for dead. The victim died on March 11 after being taken to hospital for treatment.

Path sweeper keeps village tidy
A 96-year-old woman in Quzhou has swept a path in her village every day for almost four decades. The woman, who moved to the village 36 years ago and seldom visits other places, said she kept the public area clean because she wanted to do her bit. She has gone through more than 200 brooms keeping the 100-meter stretch of path clean. It has been calculated that she has swept the equivalent of about 4,300 kilometers of path over the years.
