Tillerson visits China
At the invitation of Foreign Minister Wang Yi, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will pay a visit to China from Saturday to Sunday, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said. The two sides will exchange views on international and regional issues of mutual concern.
Jane Eyre to show in Beijing
The National Center for the Performing Arts will bring its own production of Jane Eyre to Beijing from April 13 to 19. This stage version of the Charlotte Bronte work has been performed many times at the NCPA and theaters in other cities since its 2009 debut. It will feature Yuan Quan and Wang Luoyong in the leading roles for 160 minutes of storytelling about the love and life of an independent woman.
Forum to highlight reforms
The China Development Forum 2017 will be held in Beijing from Saturday to Monday. Under the mandate "Engaging with the world for common prosperity", the forum was initiated in 2000 and serves as a platform for the Chinese government to engage in candid exchanges and discussions with leaders of global businesses and international organizations as well as foreign and Chinese scholars. The theme of this year's forum is "China and the World: Economic Transformation through Structural Reforms". Jin Liqun with Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and Stuart Gulliver with HSBC Holdings are among the guests.
On the run in Chongqing
Competitors in the Chongqing International Marathon will dash from the starting line on Sunday. In its seventh year, the marathon has attracted 30,000 participants from home and abroad. There will be a special kids' run this year. A rock concert and a sports festival will be held along with the marathon.
