PARIS - Roger Federer is 35, but on Tuesday he showed retirement is far from his mind by committing to play at the Swiss Indoors for another three years.

The native of Basel, Switzerland, won his 18th Grand Slam title in an epic final against Rafael Nadal at the Australian Open last month, ending a five-year wait to add to his major tally.

Federer has earned more than $100 million in prize money during his career but is showing no sign of letting up, with Swiss Indoors organizers revealing he is booked in for the next three editions of the event, starting in October.

"I can hardly wait to step out again in front of my home crowd in autumn. To play in Basel is always one of the highlights of the year," said Federer, a seven-time winner of the event.

This year's tournament will run Oct 21-29.

Meanwhile, Federer said the new Laver Cup team tournament is supposed to be "a tough contest, not an exhibition".

The inaugural competition will take place Sept 22-24 competition at 02 Arena in Prague, pitting a team of the best six European players against the top six from the rest of the world.

The event will shift to the United States in 2018.

"The idea is to absolutely have a tough tournament, tough matches, the better man wins, that's the idea of the Laver Cup," Federer said. "It will be a very tough test."
