Nia fitness class

China National Ballet

Part of the closing ceremony for the 11th Meet in Beijing Arts Festival, the China National Ballet will be performing The Red Detachment of Women, one of the most successful full-length Chinese ballets.

Adapted from the story of female soldiers during the 1930s, the historic ballet debuted in 1964 and is said

to have been one of China's first attempts to master the foreign art of ballet.
