Topic: Ticket to ride

To battle scalpers, from June 1 passengers need to show their ID cards to buy tickets for bullet trains. Also, as tickets will carry personal information, police are warning that passengers will need to store them carefully.

To solve a simple problem the authorities have found a complicated solution. Policymakers don't face the trouble of buying tickets themselves, although common citizens will have to carry their ID cards every day. - "QIXIDEYANGGUANG" ON SINA; FOLLOWERS: 21

I'm curious how Hong Kong residents can buy tickets through an automatic machine (that don't need ID cards). Does the new policy mean they have to buy tickets only through ticket windows now?

The real-name system is good. At least it can prevent ticket scalpers and corruption. Railway stations should evaluate their ticket-checking systems too.

Due to some unprofessional workers, private information is often illegally released. I hope the police can keep a close eye on the situation. -"TOUXIJINGJI" ON SINA; FOLLOWERS: 20

Topic: Garbage policy

Authorities in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, are sending out personalized rubbish bags to residents so they can keep track of who is sorting their garbage. Many residents argue it is an intrusion of privacy.

I still don't know after thinking for long what kind of privacy can there be in a pile of rubbish. Personally, I support cash penalties to encourage people to sort out rubbish - or better still cash rewards. More importantly, don't let the penalties be corrupted.

Many have stood against personalized rubbish bags but few have wondered why the government should carry out such a policy. It's because some residents feel it a trouble to classify rubbish, so they often put different kinds of rubbish in one bag. Some are so lazy they throw their rubbish bags directly in the passageway entrance of their buildings.

It usually takes three months to form a habit. So after it becomes a habit of people to classify rubbish under the personalized rubbish bag policy, the government might as well then consider canceling the regulation.

Topic: Vocational thinking

After a series of sexual assaults were reported in vocational schools across the country, people have blamed a problem with the education system, claiming that the students who attend these institutions - usually those who fail to make the grade for senior high schools- are of relatively poor quality.

It's illegal to physically punish students; otherwise they will sue you. However, some of the students do bad things every day, such as smoking and fighting. As a teacher, except for being angry, what else can we do?

It's not that vocational school students are of poorer qualities, but rather they are not treated equally. The study environment in vocational schools is worse than that of normal high schools. The environment changes people.

Vocational schools are designed to help those who can't make it to senior high schools to learn skills and find jobs after graduation. But we also want to learn like undergraduates. We want more than a pair of hands that can work; we want a brain that we can think with. - "JINGQIAOQIAO" ON QQ; Followers: 2
