Full-contact American Football has arrived in Beijing with the Beijing Guardians and the 5 vs 5 league.

Everyone is welcome to join or form a team for the 5 vs 5 spring season, and spots are still open on the Guardians club team for those with extraordinary talent. First practice is free. Signup includes team apparel and padded girdle.

Practices every Saturday until June, 5 pm to 7 pm at Chaoyang Sports Center (4 km east of Chaoyang Park). Players should pick up a team apparel set when arriving at the field and then join right in. College stars and football beginners are equally welcome. If you are a football fan, this is the place you need to be.

Free yoga class

At Ditan Park on Saturdays from 5 pm to 7 pm, a free yoga class welcomes everyone to join. Enter through the north gate and meet on the small field to your right.

All levels welcome, but preferably with at least basic knowledge of yoga. Bring a mat. You may also want to bring a towel to place under your mat as we will be on the grass.

Going away party

After seven years of 24-hour daily operations, Centro at Shangri-La's Kerry Centre Hotel, Beijing, will close for renovations from June 12, with a reopening scheduled for late August. A three-day event will be organized from June 9 to 11 with the buildup to "Centro's Going Away Party" on June 11.

Guests who love creative cocktails can participate in the "My Cocktail, I Decide" auction on June 11 for the exclusive naming rights of five specially designed cocktails, which will feature in the new beverage menu of Centro after it reopens.

Danish culture on show

The Danish Embassy will hold its Open Day on May 15 from 11 am to 3 pm. Activities include a showcase of design and fashion from top Danish company representatives such as Georg Jensen and Pilgrim, a photo exhibition called Tales from the Top of Europe, and movies on Danish design and architecture by COBE and LEGO.

The public are also welcome to pay a visit to the ambassador's residence to see his personal collection and Danish furniture.

Expats may come directly to the event with passports, while Chinese visitors can book in advance through Sina micro blog at http://event.weibo.
