Jazz jam session
On Sunday night from 10 pm-1 am, at East Shore Live Jazz Cafe, Moreno Donadel, an award-winning pianist from Italy, will perform his own compositions and arrangements, with Da Zhong on bass and Bei Bei on drums. Jazz standards, Latin jazz tunes, Italian, American and Chinese pop songs rearranged.
A big jam session will be held after 11 pm. If you are a jazz musician, bring your instrument and join one of the biggest jam sessions in town. Reservations preferred.

Qigong at The Hutong
Every Sunday from 9-10 am, The Hutong holds a qigong class. The class is to give people flexibility and the opportunity to experience and practice qigong on their own terms, in an effort to make qigong more accessible to those who are interested. There are no strict rules, no strict master, no attendance requirements.
It also offers a variety of healthy courses that allow you to have fun, exercise and break free from the stress of daily life, and also make new friends.

Taking it to the street
A group of Beijing photographers is putting on a unique exhibition in Dashilar, Xicheng district, next week. I Love Beijing will feature the work of six photographers, three Chinese and three European.
Their photographs of the city will be displayed on traditional wooden screens placed along Guanyinsi Street.
The free open-air exhibition, sponsored by the Great Wall Photography Association and organized by the well-known photographer and local bar and restaurant owner, Jia Yong, opens at 10 am on Tuesday and will run until May 20. Come along, have a drink or a meal and enjoy the photos.

Ride to the wild Great Wall
Starting at 9 am, on the trip you can visit a mountain village by air-conditioned bus and taxi, visit a local farmer's home and enjoy a typical local lunch. Then you will start an exciting horse ride and climb the mountain to the wild Great Wall.
You can climb and hike along an unrestored section of the Great Wall to experience natural beauty that is totally different from the rebuilt sections of the Wall.
If there is enough time, you can also visit a beautiful park, where you can do bungee jumping, zip line, ride on a motor yacht and take a cable car to a high spot on the Great Wall.

Survival Chinese
You will know the essential vocabulary and the dos and don'ts to survive in China after attending one or all of the series of four classes.
The workshop is hosted by a foreign expert and is aimed at foreigners. One small-talk class covers the basic vocabulary that will enable you to make simple conversation in different topics with your Chinese colleagues, your neighbors, taxi drivers and fellow travelers. Other classes are about transport and directions, shopping and ordering food.
Every Sunday from 10 am-12 pm at Culture Yard. 200 yuan for one class, 600 yuan advanced payment for all four classes.

Learn to cook vegetarian
On Sunday, May 14, from 2:30-7:30 pm, Bean Beijing and Tianchu Miaoxiang Vegetarian Restaurant offer a vegetarian DIY cooking session. You will get inside the kitchen, watch the cooking, taste the food, and throughout the process learn about the essence of vegetarian food. Later, you will have tea, food tasting and chatting time to discuss the idea of a "green diet".
