on Dog rescue sparks pet law debate

While it's great they were able to save the dogs, another problem should attract attention: some of the dogs had infectious diseases. More than likely, eating them would make people sick too. If the government won't make a law to protect animals, maybe it should become stricter with food safety.

Animal rights activists should not blame restaurants or even dog eaters; they should be after the dog owners. These are the culprits. They don't take care of their dogs, don't vaccinate them against rabies, abandon them when they have had enough fun with them, or when they are too busy; allow their dogs to run loose terrorizing and biting people. This causes dog phobia, hence the support for getting rid of dogs via the cooking pot increases by the day.

Saving those dogs, which are already sick, wounded and starving, is doing them a disservice. Putting them to sleep is more humane, putting them out of their misery. What better place than in the cooking pot, where they end up as delicious meals for the hungry, not wasted. Animal rights activists were misguided I hope they don't repeat the mistake.

I am an animal lover and am disgusted at the idea of dogs being mistreated and used as food. I would like to congratulate those animal activists with stopping the truck and saving those dogs. I wish I could be there with them to help.

What we've got to get away from is the assumption that eating dogs is in and of itself worse than eating pigs or cows. What is plainly unacceptable, though, is the stealing of people's pets for the dinner table. If there were stricter regulations of restaurants, there wouldn't be problems like this.

I am Cantonese. I love Cantonese Opera. I have fallen head over heals in love with the whole package. Someone needs to convince people that opera appreciation is truly hip, through whatever type or way of promotion. Opera is the art worth saving.
