Ismene Ting, a native of Taiwan, graduated from the University of California,
Berkley, majoring in comparative literature. A talented actress and director,
she is the chief member of Taiwan's 'Performance Workshop', a theatre group that
has pioneered the use of improvisational performance throughout Asia. The stage
works Ting has participated in are considered to be some of the most exciting
Chinese theatre in the world. Representative works directed by her include Love
On a Two-Way Street; Welcome to Shangrila!; The Taxi driver, the Gangster, the
Dog and His Wives; We Won't Pay! and Come Dance With Me.
"While most people are searching for their own Shangri-la, I hope to express
such a reality through film."
Ting's YNFP film will be based on a couple's search for their spiritual home
in Shangri-La.
