There was a press conference to mark the beginning of filming of the Chinese leg of the movie Caffè, a Sino-Italian production, at the Yunnan Coffee Trading Center, in the city of Pu'er, in Yunnan province, on Nov 28.
Pu'er was chosen because it is China's main coffee producer. The director is Cristiano Bortone, who is known his Red Like the Sky. Bortone has been teaching at the Beijing Film Academy since 2013 and speaks Chinese and says that Yunnan is a beautiful place with charming characteristics and is perfectly suited for the film.
After China, the filming will move on to Italy and Belgium. Bortone went on to say, "We try to explain the flavor of coffee through the film, with the romantic love story in Pu'er representing its 'delicious' part, while the stories in Belgium and Italy will depict the ['sourness' and 'bitterness' of it."
