Pu'er city in Yunnan and China Silk Co held a strategic cooperation conference in Beijing on Sept 20, according to the Pu'er Daily newspaper.
During the conference, a strategic cooperation agreement between China Silk and Yunnan (Pu’er) Jahao Silk Co was signed.
Pu'er's Party chief, Wei Xing, and the general manager of China Silk, Liu Kaiyong attended the conference where they delivered speeches.
During his speech, Wei outlined the city's current state of development and said that Pu'er owns plenty of natural resources and is in a "good location". He added that Yunnan's efforts in promoting the construction of infrastructure and communication networks will enable Pu'er to have more opportunities in developing its logistics economy and expanding border trade.
According to Wei, the process of promoting Pu'er's transformation from a traditional agriculture to modern agriculture will require support from well-known enterprises such as China Silk.
Liu introduced China Silk's development plan for the next few years at the conference and expressed his confidence in the company's cooperation agreement with Pu'er. "China Silk will follow the contract and carry out comprehensive cooperation with Jahao to promote Pu'er city's silk industry," said Liu.
