Pu'er has maintained steady industrial growth from January to May this year. Gross industrial output value is expected to hit 10.88 billion yuan (1.78 billion dollar), up 16.9 percent from a year earlier. Above-scale industrial output value will reach 8.57 billion yuan (1.4 billion dollar), and below-scale output will reach 2.31 billion yuan (377.5 million dollar).
In recent years, the city has firmly established the idea of ecological and green development, grasped opportunities in building a national green economy demonstration zone, and unswervingly implemented the strategy of invigorating itself through green industry to transform and upgrade industry. Significant results have been achieved. The city has seen continuously improved industrial structure and an increasing proportion of green industries since 2012.
The power industry, the biggest green industry in the city, realized 7.95 billion yuan (1.3 billion dollar) in output value in 2013, accounting for 28 percent of the total. Total power output value took up 34.7 percent of all industries from January to May this year. Tea, forestry, electricity and mining industries have played a bigger role in supporting overall industrial development. They saw 21.7 billion yuan (3.55 billion dollar) in output value in 2013, accounting for 76.4 percent of the total industrial output across the city. Green, ecological, low carbon and circulation economies have all made progress.
