The Pu’er National Forest Park is in the southeast of Simao district and is China’s only primeval forest on the Tropic of Cancer. It covers an area of 207 square kilometers and has various vegetation, such as tropical rainforest, monsoon deciduous forest, and monsoon evergreen broad leaved forest. The park is also home to 200 mammals, birds, reptiles, fish and insects. Viewed from above, a sea of trees sways in the wind and a range of mountains stretches endlessly. The primeval forest is filled with ancient trees, birds and exotic flowers and is an ideal getaway for tourists who wish to get in touch with nature.
