Pu’er has many valuable natural resources and enjoys a reputation as a sort of “Treasure Home” due to its gold reserves of 103.7 tons, iron reserves of 2.1 billion tons (only at Huimin Mine), 2.53 million tons of copper and 355 thousand tons of lead.
In addition, Jiangcheng potash mine contains more than 20 million tons of ore, and the city’s hydropower resource reaches 15 million MW and is a key base for the implementation of the strategy of power transmission from west to east and power transmission from Yunnan to other locations.
As the key forest area in Yun’nan as well as an important base of commoditized timber, it has forest land of 46.56 million Mu (approximately 3.10 million hectares).The city’s area with a subtropical and tropical climate adds up to 2.5 million hectares, which accounts for 28.6% of Yun’nan.
