Kunming in Southwest China’s Yunnan province has stepped up efforts to improve the environment in and around Dianchi Lake in recent years.
The city has taken various measures to prevent the pollution in the wetland and to expand the vegetation-covered areas by the lakeside.

At present, more than 3,600 hectares of wetlands have been improved on the coastal region of Dianchi Lake. The biodiversity has recovered since the lake eutrophication was put under control. The lake’s self-cleaning capacity has also improved, according to the Kunming Dianchi Lake management center.
