National hi-tech zones gather to plan for bigger development

The Eleventh Joint Directors of the Administrative Commission of National Hi-Tech Zones was held on Oct 24 in Dalian, Liaoning province. Directors of 114 national hi-tech zones gathered there to discuss reform and development.
Cao Jianlin, vice-director of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the PRC, attended the meeting and gave a speech. He first praised the great achievements that all the hi-tech zones had made in recent years. Then he analyzed the new development trends and required the directors of the zones to effectively implement the innovation-driving development strategy, deepen reform and open up for more cooperation opportunities.
Wang Minzheng, director of the administrative committee of the Kunming National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone, also spoke at the meeting. Wang said that as a leading hi-tech zone on the western frontier of China, the Kunming Hi-Tech Zone would bring its superiority of climate, geography, and natural resources into full play to improve innovation capability and support innovative industries and enterprises. The Zone would spare no efforts to attract more skilled people to Kunming to boost the development of emerging industries.
Another 11 directors of the zones gave speeches. Attendees exchanged their views on industrial transformation, scientific and technological innovation, and the development of strategic emerging industries.
