Air quality of Kunming in August ranks 13th in China

Recently, the Ministry of Environmental Protection released the Air Quality Report of China’s major cities in August. According to the report, the comprehensive index of Kunming’s air quality ranks 13th among other cities, moving up two places compared with July.

The comprehensive index of Kunming’s air quality is 3.37, and nitrogen dioxide is the major pollutant of the city.

Compared with the same period last year, the proportion of cities that reached the air quality standard among China’s 74 major cities increased from 78.7 percent to 80.4 percent. In August, 19 cities including Kunming reached the air quality standard every day.

The report also indicates that the top 10 cities of air quality in August are: Haikou in Hainan province; Zhuhai, Zhongshan and Jiangmen in Guangdong province; Zhoushan in Zhejiang province; Lhasa in the Tibet autonomous region; Shenzhen in Guangdong province ; Guiyang in Guizhou province; Taizhou in Zhejiang province; and Huizhou in Guangdong province.
