Kunming's largest aquarium to date – Haichao Aquarium – recently opened in Yunnan province.

The aquarium features seven thematic regions, each equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including a "shark town" and 5D popular science theatre.

To mark the occasion, the aquarium put on special mermaid performances for visitors, which involved swimmers diving into the fish tank.
