Holidaymakers attracted to Kunming during New Year holiday

Seven major parks in Kunming received more than 220,000 visitors during the three-day New Year holiday from Jan 1 to 3.
Park workers arranged original activities to attract visitors during the period. Kunming Zoo handed out hongbao (red envelopes containing money or gifts) to people born in the year of monkey, while a treasure hunting at the parks attracted over 80,000 visitors to take part.
Tanhua Temple laid out around 50,000 pots of flowers to mark the occasion, receiving a similar number of visitors. Daguan Park also arranged a series of games and rewarded winners with free film tickets.
Heilongtan Park held a plum flower exhibition during the holiday, where 16,000 plum trees in bloom covering over 20 species were on show to visitors.
Three newly-opened wetland parks and a Waterfall Park were among the popular scenic destinations during the holiday.
