National Tourism Administration, Yunnan develop tourism industry

On July 6, the National Tourism Administration and Yunnan provincial committee held a symposium with the Yunnan provincial government in Beijing and signed the Minutes of Meeting on Constructing Significant Southwest Bridgeheads and Jointly Carrying Forward Crossover Development of Tourism Industry in Yunnan.
The National Tourism Administration will conscientiously implement the Opinions of the State Council on Supporting the Construction of Significant Southwest Bridgeheads and further back up tourism development in Yunnan, to jointly promote the tourism industry in Yunnan.
Yunnan province, China’s southwest frontier, boasts an abundance of tourism resources. Yunnan is endowed with favorable basic conditions for tourism development, namely, its enchanting natural scenery and unique cultures of ethnic groups. In recent years, Yunnan province has cultivated tourism as a mainstay industry. In 2010, Yunnan province generated 100.683 billion yuan from tourism, an increase of 24.24 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
