The Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone (Toutunhe District) witnessed the capping of the Silk Road Trading Center, part of the zone's construction of the Urumqi Cloud Computing Industrial Park, on July 31.
At a total investment of 799 million yuan ($119 million), the 24-floor trade center will cover a floor area of 72,100 square meters.
"The installation of glass walls and pipeline systems will be completed by the end of October and the center is expected to be in use by December," said Zhang Liang, general manager of Xinjiang Construction & Investment Real Estate Development Co Ltd.
"Once in use the center will become a cluster of capital and special resources in the city and the Xinjiang region, integrating the Xinjiang Market Trading Group and the commodities, intellectual property and equity transactions trading centers," Zhang added.
The Urumqi Cloud Computing Industrial Park takes advantage of the energy resources, climate and location of the Tianshan Mountain Economic Belt. The center aims to build cloud data, national information systems and strategic backup bases in future.
