The Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone (UETD) in Xinjiang's Toutunhe district will soon be home to a high-end rail transit manufacturing base, according to agreements signed between the CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co and district's government in 2014.
CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co, headquartered in Hunan province, plans to invest 3 billion yuan ($48 million) in the manufacturing base. When finished, the project is anticipated to achieve 500 million yuan of annual output value generate 100 million yuan in tax annually.
Gao Feng, vice mayor of the Urumqi city, visited the construction site of the manufacturing base on June 18 and listened to reports of the project. Gao said that great attention should be paid to the project to ensure the construction continues as scheduled.
