The students in the Urumqi No 81 primary school in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region drew science fiction paintings to celebrate the upcoming New Year.

The students in the painting group started their paintings during their spare time half a month ago, with the intention to show their interest in environment protection and science development. A student named Shi Ruonan says, "I want to draw a big bus rapid transit, which can carry as many people as possible, and bring convenience to people."

Drawing science fiction paintings became very popular among some students, which according to the headmaster Pan Xiaomei, "Our school tries to inspire the students by encouraging them to draw science fiction paintings. This year, there are 25 paintings that won the national and regional awards."

"We hold exhibitions and competitions for students to present their pictures, and in the New Year, the school will try to provide more opportunities for the students and teachers to develop their creations and make more great paintings," added the headmaster.
