The 2016 Huawei Cloud Congress (HCC), featuring a summit forum on Karamay industrial cooperation, convened on Aug 18 at the Karamay Exhibition and Convention Center in Karamay, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
More than 1,000 government figures and industry leaders from across the country attended the one-and-a-half-day forum. The annual forum aims to strengthen communication between the government and leading digital companies.
The forum has been hosted since 2011 and each edition takes place in a different city. The theme of this year’s forum was “Cloud technology streamlines industry. Big data is the future.” The forum provided an open platform for leading industry personnel, government officials, technical experts, and key academics. Attendees discussed recent innovations in the world of cloud computing, shared the latest developments in big data, and explored new potential spaces for industry.
Tao Jingwen, senior vice president of Huawei Technologies Co, expressed the ambitions of his company during his introductory remarks. “Huawei Cloud is devoted to providing safe and reliable cloud device services for governments and companies. We have been trying to assemble a nationwide cloud service since 2011. We have succeeded in launching many competitive products.”
The forum was co-organized by the Karamay government and Huawei Technologies Co. Chen Xinfa, the Party chief Karamay municipal government, spoke at the forum and praised Karamay as a city of immense potential.
"Karamay aims to become the ‘oil city of the world’ and the information industry is a vital part of our development strategy. We are actively focusing on developing a cloud computing industrial park here in Karamay."
