The Energy Cooperation Sub-forum, an integral part of the 2016 Silk Road Economic Belt- Xinjiang Karamay Forum, was held in Karamay, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region on Aug 10.
The purpose of the sub-forum was to build an international platform for energy cooperation in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative. Paramount to these efforts is the need for industrial and economic unity to develop much-needed systems of infrastructure in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

Hosted by the People’s Government of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and the TBEA Transformer Group, the sub-forum attracted leading figures from the national energy departments of China, Pakistan, Iran and Kazakhstan, as well as representatives from important banks and energy businesses.

The sub-forum mainly discussed how to build a global energy network and promote investment and financing in new energies. The TBEA Transformer Group, a world-class producer of high-quality power transformers, shared its wealth of experience in the realm of international energy cooperation and sought future business partners.
The 2016 Silk Road Economic Belt- Xinjiang Karamay Forum, honored as the “Davos Forum in West China”, is being held in Karamay, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region from Aug 9-11. It has attracted around 500 leading figures from the governments of China, Pakistan and Kazakhstan, as well as representatives from businesses and think-tanks.
