Officials in the United Nations headquarters in New York embraced Karamay's mascots "Kela" and "Mayi" to celebrate the opening of "Creative Karamay" at the US-China International Art Festival on June 6, New York local time.
All the exhibited paintings and calligraphy works were created by the masters of Karamay and the China National Academy of Painting. In addition, the purple-pots made of the Yardan clay of Karamay attracted the guests by their bright colors and various shapes.
The exhibition drew many Chinese and foreign visitors. The artists were also presented to the guests and mingled with them.
