The Karamay Yuejin Community's administrative group distributed 593 free yellow bracelets from March 15 to 28 to people over the age of 60 who suffer dementia, the Karamay Daily reported.
The bracelet is made of silica gel, suitable for the elderly to carry and has eye-catching color. There is an open information storage port in the middle of the bracelet where a card containing important information, such as home address, telephone and children's contact details, can be placed. Anyone can contact the person's family through the card if he or she is lost or in danger.
Zhao's mother got a yellow bracelet. Zhao said her mother is 78 years old, and was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease last year. Now her memory is getting worse. Zhao was particularly worried about this loss.
"The working group sent a yellow bracelet; I always make sure my mother puts it on before she goes out, so I can rest assured," said Zhao.
Li Xinhuan, head of the working group, noted that the members of the group give yellow bracelets to the elderly in person at their home. During the visits the staff carefully taught the elderly usage of the bracelet, and asked in detail about their physical condition.
Li went on to say, "We will actively coordinate efforts to address all issues raised by the elderly."
