The Skyworth Group, China's household appliances magnate, launched a charity activity in Karamay, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, on Nov 18. It has donated goods valued at 10 million yuan ($1.56 million) to support local people with physical disabilities.
Nearly 4,000 disabled people in Karamay benefited from the donation, according to Karamay Disabled Persons' Federation.
Zhang Kuo, president of the Skyworth Group's northern Xinjiang branch , said that the company held the charity activity in order to contribute to public welfare in Karamay. He also called for more local enterprises to help vulnerable groups such as the elderly and people with physical disabilities.
Karamay Baixing Electric Device Company, Skyworth's franchiser in Karamay, also donated items for the disabled people at the activity.
