Chen Xinfa, secretary of the Party's Karamay Oilfield Committee, visited teachers of various ethnicities on Sept 9, prior to Teachers Day, Karamay Daily reported.
Chen visited local schools at all levels, learning in detail about school infrastructure and visiting teachers there. "I would like to extend my appreciation on behalf of the Karamay people for your hard work and dedication," said Chen.
He also told teachers to be more innovative and help students go out to the entire world. "First class education calls for innovation. We should try new concepts, mechanisms, and measures to boost education. The government will offer support to achieve this goal," said Chen.
Zhao Guosheng briefed officials on the development of Sino-Russian and Sino-Pakistani programs. Peng Jianwei, head of the Karamay Education Bureau, reported on Karamay Senior High School's educational cooperation in recent years.
Chen acknowledged the achievements and hoped that the international department will further improve programs so that overseas students can learn more about Karamay and China. In recent years, Karamay has brought in innovative education models such as the Karamay School Attached to Beijing Normal University and Sino-Canadian program. The overall education standard is in the top tier nationwide. "With innovative educational, students can make wiser choices based on their personal preferences," said Chen.
Karamay deputy mayor Wang Jun and Liang Yi, vice Chairman of the CPPCC's Karamay Committee accompanied Chen on the visits.
