China Petroleum University secretary visits Karamay

Jiang Qingzhe, secretary of the Party's University of Petroleum (Beijing) Committee, visited the university's new campus in Karamay on Aug 29, Karamay Daily reported.

Wang Jun, vice Mayor of Karamay, detailed the establishment of the university's Karamay Campus.

According to Wang, Karamay's government will support the university's Karamay Campus and its contributions to China's petroleum industry.

The China University of Petroleum (Beijing) Xinjiang Campus is a key project to build a "World Oil City". The campus will train petroleum and petrochemical professionals for West China and Central Asia.

Before Jiang's visit, 22 young teachers from the China University of Petroleum (Beijing) visited on Aug 26 to learn about the campus' preparations.

Karamay's municipal government and China University of Petroleum (Beijing) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on establishing the Xinjiang Campus on July 22. According to the MOU, the new campus is expected to start enrollment in 2016.
