Tianjin port is a basic part of the core international shipping area of northern China. It cooperates with Tangshan port to develop container service to improve international competitiveness. On Dec 27, Jintang International Container Wharf Co Ltd, invested by Tianjin Port Holdings Co Ltd, and Tangshan Port (Group) Co Ltd were launched in Tianjin, opening a new chapter for Tianjin and Tangshan innovative cooperation and providing sources of experience for all port enterprises in Tianjin and Hebei.
Jintang, with registered capital of 500 million yuan($718.876 thousand), in the future will be in charge of the construction, operation and management of the container wharf. Tianjin port will support it in opening new routes and publicizing the increased container capacity. Meanwhile, Tangshan port will support the construction of the Bohai area container pivotal terminal, promoting trade and economic development.
Tianjin port and Tangshan port are the core ports in the Bohai area. The intention is that they will complement with each other to create a port pattern with Tianjin at its center, and Tangshan and Huanghua strengthening container services in Tianjin port. The overall effect should be to improve the influence of all Tianjin-Hebei ports.
In 2016, Tianjin Port Group opened many routes including 10 container routes to European destinations such as Minsk and Moscow, thus enlarging the number of routes to Tangshan, Huanghua, Qinghuangdao and Caofeidian and laying a foundation for the belt and road intiative.
