Northern coastline is 12.85 km long, stretching from west to east. It consists of Support System Zone, Petroleum Operation Zone, Operation Zone of Large Dry Bulk Cargos and Crude Oil Terminal Zone.
(1)Support System Zone
From Xingang Navigation Lock to Voyage-repair Terminal of Tianjin Yuanyang Company, coastline is around 3.8 km. long, equipped with Terminals of Rescue & Salvage Bureau, Bohai Base Terminal of CNPC (China National Petroleum Corporation), work vessel terminal for navigation and marine units and Tianyuan Voyage-repair Terminal.
Support land zones serve as security bases, Nanjiang Checkpoint, Communication D Bureau. The depth ranges 300~1200 m, and area is around 1.95 sq km.
Terminal of Waterway Bureau reconstructed as Petroleum Berths in 2009.
Functions remain unchangeable with other regional functions of the Support System Zone, among the coastline and land area for eastern port navigation and marine operations were integrated to meet requirements of port development.
(2)Petroleum Operation Zone
The Petroleum Operation Zone covers the S1#~S4# petroleum berths, with coastline of 1.23 km. long. Carrying capacity is 18.90 million tons/year.
With land area of 1.48sq.km2, it has storage tanks of around 2.40 million cubic meters. The coastline and land area would remain unchanged and gradually integrate petroleum products, liquid chemicals and crude oils for domestic trade as large crude terminals have been put into production in the east.
(3)Operation Zone of Dry Bulk Cargos
On the east of S15# berth, it would establish coal and mineral terminals, forming the coastline of 7.8 km. long and land area of 10.92 sq km in S5#~S15# berths.
24 berths serve as large dry bulk operation zone with carrying capacity of around 270 million tons.
With new berths, 10 berths in S16#~S25# serve for coal vessels, with newly added vessel capacity of around 110 million tons, while 3 berths in S26#~S28# for mineral discharges, with newly added discharge capacity up to around 45 million tons.
The Tianjin South Port Bulk Logistics Center would drop bulk cargo operations.
Coal operations in Tianjin South Port have been moving eastward step by step, undertaken by S13#~S25# berths with good land conditions and railways handling capacity.
The professional mineral yards will get established on the south of railways behind berths. The area of yards is 0.54 sq km with capacity of 4 million tons.
(4)Crude Oil Terminal Zone
Based on 300,000 DWT crude oil terminals, it would hold a large crude oil terminal on the east. The revetment line is 2.1 km long with three large crude oil berths.
The coastline of terminals is 1.38 km long and land occupying 2.29 sq km with annual carrying capacity of 54 million tons.
