European Chamber Tianjin Chapter organized an exclusive high-level dialogue for member companies with interactive discussions with Tianjin government authorities. Mr. Zhang Aiguo, Director General and Ms. Gao Lijuan, Vice Director General of Tianjin Commission of Commerce as well as relevant functional bureau officials presented.
The event started with the key notes from Dr. Christoph Schrempp, Vice Chair of European Chamber Tianjin Chapter. He appreciated very much this kind of platform for the regular exchange between chamber members and Tianjin government. He also highlighted member companies focused topic, for example: the local implementation of Guofa No.5, No.39 and Tianjin Circular No.26.
In response to Dr. Christoph Schrempp's speech, Mr. Zhang Aiguo gave a general update of the achievement for the first quarter 2018 in regards to economic figures, and brief plans to build up a better business environment with the advisory consulting from European Chamber member companies.
In his speech, he mentioned that in the first season of 2018, the volume of consumer goods for retailing reaches 142.16 billion Yuan, an increase of 5.8%. The total volume for import and export reaches 176.57 billion Yuan, an increase of 3.1%. In the first season, the newly approved companies with foreign investment have reached 303 with a contract volume of 7.39 billion USD, an increase of 12.5%. Actual utility of foreign capital reaches 1.46 billion USD, an increase of 12.9%.
Mr. Zhang Aiguo also mentioned that Tianjin municipal government has put forward "The opinion on how to improve investment and business environment" and "Rules on creating sound environment for entrepreneurs", also known as "The eight rules in Tianjin". These rules and regulations aim to build Tianjin into an international, market-based and convenient business environment. High quality development calls for the support of high quality enterprises. Tianjin municipal government aims to mobilize 10,000 officials to serve and bring a sense of belonging to 10,000 enterprises.
30 top executives representing 16 member companies participated in this event. Questions regarding the difficulties the companies have encountered during operation have been raised at the dialogue salon. And officials from relevant functional bureau responded to the specific questions directly on site. Questions raised are mainly on Human Resources, Customs, EHS, Environment Protection, etc. Both parties expressed the willingness to make the dialogue exchange become a regular mechanism to better serve all the European companies operating in Tianjin.
