China's technological treasure
Tianhe-I offers solutions to many problems in the economy, national defense, and technology fields.
Wang Jian, president of Shenzhen Huada Gene Research Institute (BGI) -- a world leading genomics research center -- who participated in the Project 1000 Genomes, suggested that to process the great volume of data had been a challenge in the development of genomic research but Tinahe-I has solved the problem.

"The correlation analysis of 500 people's gene information which needed a year's time to finish, but can be processed in three hours by Tianhe-I," Wang said.
The European Union has also showed their willingness to cooperate with the National Supercomputer Center in Tianjin for developing high-performance computing technologies and to do research on application technology for future supercomputers.
