A "Run to Give Tianjin 2016" charity running activity, organized to support a charity institution -- the World of Art Brut Culture -- was held in Tianjin City on Oct 16, raising 20,089 yuan ($ 2,973).
Craig S. Smith, general manager of the Marriot Asia Pacific Branch, an international hotel management company with 5,700 hotels in 110 countries and regions, said this year's "Run to Give" charity running event has a significant influence.
The hotel is one of the sponsors of the event. He stressed that the run expressed the resolution of employees of the hotel to do something good for society and he hoped that as the number of its hotels increases, the company can have a positive social and economic impact on people.
The Marriot started a TakeCare Plan in January, 2016, to offer employees resources and opportunities to take care of their mental and physical health. The company intends to improve health status and happiness of the staff and to create an innovative community.
The charity running activity was initiated in 2014 and has been held in 92 Asia Pacific regions, with more than 20,000 people taking part. The first running event in the series raised about 228,000 dollars.
