Fine films and TV promote Tianjin’s culture influence
The award ceremony of the 30th China TV Drama Flying Apsaras Award was held in Hangzhou on Dec 28, 2015, when Xun Lu (Finding a Path), a co-present TV series of Tianjin Publicity Department, Tianjin Television and China Central Television became a winner of the Outstanding Television Series. It’s the third time that Tianjin won this award with its work on major revolutionary and historical topic.
Tianjin implements a top-notch strategy in its cultural products industry in recent years. It has put up a host of fine works, which help to advance the city’s cultural creativity and attraction; meanwhile, they further enrich the public’s culture life.
As Jie Fang (Liberation), the epic TV series produced by Tianjin became a hit TV drama in 2009, another Tianjin’s production, Xinhai Geming (the Revolution of 1911), won wide acclaim across the country in 2011.
The Stories of Concessions, a nine-episode documentary co-produced by Tianjin Publicity Department, Tianjin Television and China Central Television, illustrates the formation and development of the Wudadao in Tianjin and reflects the historical changes of Tianjin and China. This documentary was honored as the work of the year at the documentary award ceremony held by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television and Gansu provincial government in October 2015. Moreover, the documentary’s director won the best director at the ceremony.
Chinese original animation film, Legend of A Rabbit, produced by Tianjin North Film Group and Beijing Film Academy, triggered a boom of domestic animation after it was released on July 11, 2011. This film is highlighted with distinct Chinese characteristics and Chinese traditional culture. It is a winner of 13 awards at home and abroad.
Together with other two companies, Tianjin North Film Group produced the second one by continuing the success of the first while strengthening the Chinese cultural symbols and traditional chivalrous spirit. In 2014, Legend of A Rabbit: the Martial of Fire staged at the Cannes International Film Festival, after its first one made debut in Berlin International Film Festival in 2011.
An innovation mechanism is indispensible for the prosperous cultural creation. Tianjin has put up a line of mechanisms to encourage fine arts works. It has build contractual mechanism and signed contracts with writers. It has cultivated a group of Tianjin writers in recent years. The vigorous creation of television, film and literature not only enriched people’s life but also improves Tianjin’s cultural influence.
