Five-Compound English-Style Tourist Area — Core Area for Modern Service Industry

Taian Road is located in the core area of Tianjin City. In the “Spatial Development Strategic Plan of Tianjin” and “Overall Urban Development Program of Tianjin (2005-2020)”, this area is defined as an area featuring modern finance, business and tourism, as well as a core area of service industry and a block with historical and cultural heritage. With Jiefangbei Park as its center, this area mainly consists of five compounds.

The construction of this area is a key project for the development of service industry in Tianjin, as well as a project for the protection of historical buildings. It covers an area of 16.3 hectares, with a building area of 510,000 m2 (including new building area of 424,000 square meters, and existent building area of 86,000 square meters).

The first compound is for business and apartments; the second compound is mainly for headquarter offices and business; the third compound is for business and apartments; the fourth compound is Ritz-Carlton Hotel and serviced apartments; the fifth compound is Friendship Mall and grade-A office building.

This English-style block, with its various business modes, outstanding brand advantages and perfect business functions, will further boost the development of service industry in Tianjin. The development and construction of the five compounds, on a building area of 510,000 square meters , involve a total investment of nearly 9 billion CNY. The first compound, consisting of a residential apartment and serviced apartment, was completed in May 2011. The second compound, with commercial buildings only, was completed in May 2011; it has attracted first-tier international brands like Royal Yacht Club and Ancient.

In the third compound, completed in August 2011, are Garden Building and other characteristic buildings for residence or business, where there are stores of B&O (Denmark) and other first-tier international brands. In the fourth compound, Ritz-Carlton Hotel was put in operation in October 2013. In 2013, the construction of the five-compound urban complex was completed.

In April 2012, the first batch of companies moved to Taian Road Five-Compound Area, and the newly built commercial facilities and Friendship Mall in the first, second and third compounds opened to the public. In this area, Starbucks, Rolex and Montblanc established their first flagship stores in Tianjin.

The arrival of GUESS, MISS SIXTY and other brands filled the gap in the apparel category in North China. On October 31, 2015, the trial operation of the Third Compound Commercial Street attracted numerous customers. Now, investment promotion has been completed for this street. A total of 33 brands have their investment in this area, whose business scopes range from coffee bar to pub, jewelry, digital, food, garments, books, hackerspace, etc. The elegant cultural atmosphere in this street adds more charm to the Xiaobailou Business Circle.
