The Ninth International Teochew Youth Convention was opened from August 25 to 27 at the Tianjin Meijiang Conference and Exhibition Center. More than 800 Chaoshan youths from 19 countries all over the world attended the event and discussed the future of Chaoshan youth talents.

The event aimed to create an exchange platform to introduce Tianjin to the international Chaoshan community and vice versa and to bring investment to the city.

Huang Jianxin, executive chairman of the annual conference, said that to offer more exchange and learning opportunities for the attendees, a Tianjin-Chaoshan young entrepreneurs forum, an economy and trade meeting and a Tianjin-Chaoshan Summit on "seizing new innovation trends, grabbing new ideas and realizing a new development" were held during the three days.

Participants also visited Binhai New Area and learned about the investment environment of Tianjin, which promoted Tianjin's economic development and might contribute to the establishment of a Tianjin International Teochew Youth Industrial Park.

The event was sponsored by the Youth Commission of the Tianjin Teochow Overseas Friendship Union, the Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs of the Tianjin government and the United Front Work Department of Tianjin Municipality.
