Two musical students from Tianjin -- Lei Zhao and Liang Zilan -- won a championship in the 17th TIM Tournoi International de Musique (TIM International Two-Piano Competition) on August 9 in Turin, Italy.
Musicians from Germany, Italy, Russia, Hungary and Greece competed in the contest. Lei and Liang were its only Chinese participants and they are now its first Chinese winners.

The competition is held every other year and has significant weight in the European music field. The participants are able to enter the contest only through an extremely strict selection process.
Lei and Liang are now studying at Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz in Austria and have already won several awards in other international musical competitions.
