The Tianjin Administration of Foreign Experts organized a tree-planting activity for all foreign experts in Tianjin to build the “Foreign Talents Friendship Wood” in the East Lake Park.
The event attracted 280 foreign experts and overseas students from 19 countries, including the US, France, Germany, the UK, Japan, and South Korea, and more than 1,000 trees were planted.
The event aims to help foreign experts in Tianjin get used to local life in Tianjin and do their jobs better for the city. There are more than 20,000 foreign experts each year coming to Tianjin to work, and more than 28,800 foreign students studying in Tianjin.
The Friendship Wood was first build in 2009 in Guangang Forest Park, and in the past seven years about 7,000 trees have been planted by over 1,800 foreign experts and students. The Friendship Wood is a witness of the contribution foreign experts make to the city of Tianjin.
Since 2015, the location of the Friendship Wood has been changed to East Lake Park. The total area of the wood has reached 100,000 square meters. The tree-planting event has become a noteworthy event in Tianjin for attracting foreign talent.
